The Treaty of Waitangi

On the 6th of February 1840 the Treaty was signed in the Bays of Island. The Treaty was between the Maori and Pakeha people. The people who were part of it were James Busby, Hone Heke, Tamati Waka Nene and William Hobson.

When the Treaty started they began to have a meeting because they were fighting over the land.

When the meeting started there was a man who had translated English into Maori. His name is Henry Williams. The Maori people who were there was Hone Heke, Tamati Waka Nene and
the Pakeha people were James Busby, Henry Williams, and William Hobson.
