Year 8 Camp!

Last week us year 8 had camp on our way to ngarowhaihia we had fun before we got on the bus we had to put all our gear on the bus when we got on the bus we went throw Sylvia park then we were on our way. When we saw the place we were excited to have fun and enjoy our activities. When we got off the bus we had to help the bus driver take out all the luggage and put it out side the play room . 

After we took out all the luggage we had to go and see what our cabins looks like when we finished we to do our first activitie when we started we enjoyed co-operated with our team ewe had leaders our leaders were Selina and Nezinli. After we finished our activities we had to go for a shower then have dinner. After dinner we watched movies for our dinner we had nachos and 

 Mince with Vegas after that we watched the movie. 

Then when we finished we had to brush our teeths then go bed. The next morning we had to get up early and run. Before we had our first activities we went for a bush walk. Then the next morning we had to run around the field. 

How to make a teddy bear.

Materials:

1 cotton
1 piece of needle
2 buttons
piece of stuffing
sowing

Methods:

1. Draw the shape of the bear on a piece of paper.

2. Cut the cotton in the shape of the bear and start sowing the bear.

3. Get a pair of scissors and cut the cotton to make the bear.

4. Start sowing it when your finish and finish off with your teddy bear.

5. You will need stuffing for your teddy bear inside then finish sowing it.

6. You will have to sew the buttons on for the eyes.  

7. Start finishing off from sowing the whole for your stuffing to go in.

My Favourite Toy.

My favourite toy is a koala bear.  I’ve had my koala bear since I started school (5 years old). I first got my koala when we were playing a game at school. My teacher wrapped the koala in lots of layers of paper and passed it around to the kids who were sitting in a circle. When we started passing it we had to unwrap it. When we had finished the person could keep the toy if they unwrapped the last piece of paper.

When we finished playing the game, I ended up going home with a toy. When I got home I was excited because I had my first toy.

When I first got my koala I was happy because I’ve always loved animals. When I first started school I was happy because we played a game I never played before. When we started my friends were telling me how to play and what you get sometimes. These are good memories of me and my koala.

Toy Story

This we are learning about Toy story. This we went to assembly to see what we're doing for our topic for this term. When we arrived we saw some teachers in outfits and in costumes. After Mr Burt finished talking about our topic there were teachers who were performing on stage and showing us what they were doing for this term's topic. When they started we were laughing at what they were doing.

When team 1 went up on stage I saw them in a space suit and acting and also giving things out to people who had to stand up and play the musical instrument. When they gave everything out the first person was Richard when he got given the instrument he had to go up near the stage. After that finished team 2 went up and played twinkle little star song and added a dance to it.

When they started I was sitting there watching them sing and dance at the same time. When I saw this video of twinkle little star I thought that the little kids had to sing it to. When the next team hopped on stage I was wondering who was going up. After team 2 finished the next team hopped on straight away. When I saw barbie hop on stage I saw Mrs Barks' daughter running down the aisle like a cheerleader.

Term 3 Reflection

This term I have been learning about Go for Gold that was our topic for this term. I have learnt interesting things from my teacher and also been learning a lot of hard things that were difficult and been helping others through their writing. I enjoyed playing with my friends and doing lots of fun activities with teachers and friends. I have tried my hardest to improve more in my writing and improve more in my work.

This Term I am finding out more things about the 2012 Olympics and how it and when it began. I have been trying my best to co-operate with the teachers and I have been trying my best to listen to the teachers and find out more things about our topic. I have been doing my fitness log movie (40 push ups) and I have been getting help from my friends and others.

I have tried to help people who are stuck with their writing and tried helping others. This term I wanted to play more sports. I hope that when
I grow up I am able to be a rugby player or play or sorts of sports with my friends and family and enjoying myself with my family and friends. When I’m older enough I would like to be a volunteer (SPCA) and  help those poor animals who are finding their life’s hard.

Olypics Sports Day.

Yesterday morning the students of Point England School had a sports day. During session we had rotations and teachers who were finding out where and what we were playing for sports. When we arrived at our game (Rounders) I found it hard to play but when we stayed longer I found it easy for me to play threw all the games. Before that we were all on the netball courts and in lines in our countries and leaders. They were holding up the flag and finding people who were in our group.


When we started rotating to another game we had to pick to groups for each game we were playing (Touch) . After that we finished and started walking over to the street for our next game. When we arrived our teacher was waiting for us to start playing.

During the game (Four Square) we had to sit down and wait for the next player to play. When they lost there were other people who got turns every time. But when they lost the other player would get a turn but if they won they carried on with the game. After we finished the game we had to stay and wait for the other team to come and join us. When we started we were finding it hard to play against other players.

But when it came to us girls we were losing by miles. Then when the boys hopped on we got a tie. After we finished the game the other team won. We went to the next game ( Hand-ball ) and started listening to Mr Somerville when we started we could only bounce the ball three times or
step 3 times when we have the ball it was similar to netball. When we cooperated we were  working as a team.

When it came to the end we were all happy and couldn’t wait to go home. When were playing in the hall I was finding it hard because we had to rotate and sit down and play (Volleyball) on the ground. When the person served and they won we had to rotate.  

After that we all assembled on the court .Mr Burt thank all the teachers and helpers especially Miss Va’afusuaga. After that he closed with a prayer , we went back to class and then we went home.  

What If I was a principal ?

What If I was a Principal? I would offer Ipads or Netbooks for ourstudents to write or... search what we are writing or publish their work and also make animations and take photo’s of visitors and share important things to the teachers and make them have sports and build them a studio for them to practice learning their script also sing and practice  their movie’s songs.

If I was a Principal I would put a room space in each class and have a artist studio for the people who would like their dreams to draw or paint.
I also show visitors how amazing our students are. I would show our visitors where and what we done to provide these things and how amazing work we have done.

I would provide a meeting for every student who are in extension. I would let them create how amazing art work they do and what kind of exam are they on for college. I would help the people who aren't are sportifice person or encourage them to play sport and provide them athletic’s.

If there were more choices I would put a meeting up to ask them what's wrong and if there were any problems. If there were space in our school I would put a netball court and a basketball court and a tennis court outside our school grounds.

What If I had Super Powers

What If I had Super powers? If I had Superpowers I would like to be invisible and have a secret hiding space for me to work in. If I had more powers it would be air and breathing under water.
It would be amazing to be a superhero and help people who need stuff moved that’s so big they can’t lift it. I could be as strong as a truck.

If there were more power’s or friends who had powers I would make a team and chose a team leader and work as a team. If we had a big space in my imaginative secret place I would make a place that we could practice in. I would make stuff for us to wear and help the people who are superheroes. People would know who we are.

If there was a choice I would also make a house for our team and make a school for those little kids. When they get older those student’s can become superheroes too. If not I would connect a team together and make a big ultimate car that could put itself together like the
Transformers. If not I would help people who are in the army or war and put the terrorist people in jail. And if there’s people who escape out of jail I will help the police get them and put them in jail for what they have done.

If there were other choices for our team I would get cars for us to travel in or fly and use our super power’s so we could slowly practice outside and breathe under water. If not I would find people who are superheroes and put them in our team for them to practice everyday and  teach them more skills about what they have in their powers and see what they have. Sometimes I could think what kind of power they have in their mind.

If there were older or younger people who have power’s I would put them in a student house and teach them what kind of powers they have. If they were old enough like us they would be out there helping people who need help to capture people who are terrorists.

What If?

What If I was a billionaire? I would buy anything my mum would like. I would buy a big three story house as big as a mansion for my mum, aunty and I. If I was the only one by my self I would do anything and everything for my mum. I would buy her and I a car and a pool outside my house. If I had other dreams my dream would be moving overseas or live with one of my family members who’s sick and help them.

If not I’ll will take some money to a cancer society or help out people who have a sickness disease. I would help out Christchurch and build a building for people who have lost their homes.
Otherwise I would give money to the people who need it for them to live on. I would give some money to other people who need it for their schools that need to be renewed.

If I had a choice I would help out people who need homes and who need places to live in.
I would help out people who need water and buy them what they would like. If not I would get them a home to live in and clothes for them to have and a medical nurse for them to get better. I would give them anything and everything.

I would buy them a big house and and car for them to travel in. And put them in a school for them to learn when they get older. And if there was a person who couldn’t pay for their daughter’s or their sons to get surgery and pay for their sickness. I would encourage them to be strong and help them to push themselves and make them live for their future.

Cross Country

Wow! I was so excited that I felt like I could sprint as fast as a car. The 12 year old girls lined up on the line ready to compete with each other. Mr Burt said “3, 2, 1” BANG! We all started to jog.

First we ran across the field, then we ended up on the track. On our way through the tracks there were a lot of puddles and yucky mud. I think I was near the front. I felt exhausted before I got to the bridge.   

Next I crossed the bridge and ran up the hill. It was a dangerous hill when we got up to the part where we almost finished the track. When we first started I was scared that I will slip and fall into the icky, slimy mud. After it came up to the hills I almost fell over into the river.

Then I started sprinting at the end of the race course. On the way to the finish line I felt like I was going to drop and faint. After I had finished I was begging to get water. I felt like I was going to faint but I didn’t. I ended up with mud all

Kapa Haka

I really love going to Kapa Haka. On Thursday afternoon the Kapa Haka group had to go to Room 20 to practice.  When the bell rang we had to line up and wait outside room 20 for the teacher to come and open the door.  We had to pack the desks on the sides because we didn’t have enough room to practice.

The boys and girls had to line up in two lines and practice while the teachers (Whaea Sophie and Ms Squires) taught us most of the moves. We had to sit down and listen to our teacher while she was telling us what the moves were going to be.

After we had learnt the actions we all waited for Whaea Sophie to teach Dylan how to play the guitar while we were singing and dancing at the same time. Our first actions was to put our hands on our ribs because we had to put more moves in our Kapa Haka group dance. When we finished we had to listen so that we would all know what and how our action were going to be.  

What I love about Kapa Haka is that we learn more and exciting songs.

Archery

As you can see he is trying to aim at the target he's trying to hit. 

He is also trying hard to shoot the target so that he could show people how talented he is.

He is showing us how to hold the bow and arrow properly and how to aim straight.

As you can see he is very taleted at shooting at a target.

London Olympics

This term I have been learning about the London Olympics 2012. This year  the athletes are competing in the Olympics and is been held in London. When my teacher played a movie of the Olympics I was watching the movie and writing about how amazing the Olympics was. I am really looking forward for the 2012 Olympics.

When the 2012 Olympics starts there will lots of athletes compete. We have been learning about this year Olympics when it starts I will be excited because I would like to see who will be the world's Champion athlete.

The five rings stand for the continents of five rings.

The fastest man in the world is Usain Bolt. He is from Jamaica and represents his country. He is also born on the 21 of August and  he is the world record holder in the 100 meter and 200 meter  race course.

London has built new venues for the games. They are also using old buildings to host the games. They are bringing in more guards to protect the well beings of the athletes.


I am looking forward to seeing  the world champion athletes at the Olympics.

Holiday high lights

When the first holidays started I was excited to go to the movies with my friends Denim,
Andrea, Awhina, Katrina. When we all arrived we went for a walk around Sylvia park then went on the escalators to see where we are.

Before that we went to the movies to see what time it starts and what movie we should see. When we all arrived we saw the movie chart after that we all chose what movie we all wanted to watch. When we got there I thought that we should of watched the movie all together so that we wouldn’t lose each other.

While we were deciding what movie we should watch’’ Andrea decided that we should watch the movie Snow White and the huntsman. When we arrived into the movie theater we went in we had to find our seat code to sit  on it. When the movie started I was on my netbook chatting to some of my friends and asking how their holidays been.

Before that we had to wait for a hour for the movie to start. After that Andrea and Awhina and Katrina went to Pak’n Save to get some popcorn and four drinks for all of us. When I walk into the movie theater I felt excited to see the movie Snow White and the Huntsman.

Before we walked into the movie theater we all walked into the game place to see what game we wanted to play.During the movie we had to wait for a while for the movie to start  when it started i was talking while the movie was starting. When it

My Special Place

My special place is in Rotorua because I like to spend time with my family. The reason why I picked Rotorua is because I thought that this would be the only place that I’d pick. The picture that I have is from the internet. I took a screenshot of it and sketched a picture of it.

My art is in the style of Van Gogh because I have used bright colours and some plain ones. My painting is about the hot mud pools in Rotorua and there is a Maori design in it.

Term 2Reflection

This term I have learnt a lot of things about art. My teacher has taught me a lot of things about Vincent Van gogh art. He has a lot of detail and he shows us a lot of colours. Also, Henri Matisse likes to show people a lot of colour.His style of art is Fauvism, which translates into Wild beast. He likes to sketch his artwork then outline it. After he finishes he paints over it with colours such as black, pink, yellow and blue.

Danielle Hulme likes to draw pasifika art work and likes to colour it with paint and likes to use a lot of patterns. She also likes to draw a lot of detail. She likes to add fruit and women with their hair out.

We have learnt a lot of styles of art and how to paint like an artist.

Halfway through the year we have almost finished our work and the holidays are coming up. We are going to put them up in the hall and are showing people how amazing our artwork is. We are are showing our visitors how and what we done with it. We had to write about who’s art we used and how we figured out how to use the technique.

Taonga time

On Fridays Miss Vaafusuaga had ask us to follow her to room 24 to write about our profile pictures when we want to write about ourselves and what we do for a living. During the writing we had to partner up with a person and write together. When we had to partner up we had to get a paper each about people who play Netball and Rugby. I choose Maria Taitua and we had to write about those people we had chosen.

During that time each person had to share their work with Miss Vaafusuaga. After we finished Miss Vaafusuaga would grab her laptop then we had follow her to the Netball courts. When we arrived we had to do the beb test which i thought was hard. When we arrived Miss Vaafusuaga was looking for the beb test so we could do it. A few minutes ago Miss Vaafusuaga told us to go back to class then after that Miss Vaafusuaga tola me to go and take the speaker back to Mr Jacobsen.  

Pablo Picasso and Daniella Hulme

Yet again our teacher has asked us about the differences between  Pablo Picasso and Daniella Hulme’s artwork. Daniela Hulme likes to draw a lot of Pacific Islander art and likes to draw a lot of patterns. Pablo likes to draw Cubist art work and likes to use a lot of dark and light colours.

Daniella Hulme and Pablo Picasso are  famous artists because they show a lot of talented style in their art  work.

In ‘the weeping woman’ it looked liked he sketched the picture then outlined it. Then he painted it and made it look like it was realistic.

In ‘a lazy day in paradise’ she must of started from the face or started from the couch, then she must of painted it after she had sketched it.

It shows us that they don’t use the same theme. And also he uses a different style. They have the same colour and different theme. The colours are yellow, black, orange, green, blue and that’s about it. There are also two ladies in the art works.

Although Daniella Hulme is not as famous as Picasso, she is still talented.

Van Gogh and Henri Matisse

We have been asked to compare the art of Van Gogh and Henri Matisse. Vincent Van Goghs style is dark colours and light colours. Henri Matisses style is about bright colours.  Van Gogh cut his ear off and sent it to his girlfriend.

In Sunflowers Vincent Van Gogh has used three or four colours. He used yellow, orange, red, green and brown.  The painting has lots of sunflowers. The main colours that he used was brown and yellow. I like this painting because he used a lot of detail in his painting.  Van Gogh liked to paint because he was talented at his work.

In La Musique, it is a painting of two women. One of the women is playing a guitar and the other woman is watching her. Matisse used yellow, orange, green, black, blue, and red. It looks simple because it isn’t really realistic.

Both the paintings are different. There’s different colours and different details. There are also petals in Van Goghs painting.There are also more details and different kind of techniques. Henri Matisse has more colour then Vincent Van Gogh. Yellow was used in both paintings. There is also some green and black in both.

Holiday Highlights

On Saturday the 14th of April my friends and I went to the Reece Mastin Concert. When we arrived we had to wait outside until 7:00 pm. By the time the security opened the doors
everyone was excited to see Reece Mastin. By the time we went in there was doors with numbers on them so they can show us where we could sit in.

When we went through  the door my number was 19. After we went through the door we had to find the seat that we had to sit on. By the time we found our seats we watched the crowd go crazy. When the Concert started there was a group called Young societies.

One of the songs they sang was I’m a single lady. When they finished their songs Reece Mastin came up next and sang one of his new ones. The next song he sang was I kissed a song from Katy Perry. In the beginning of the songs he was telling everyone what his band was called.

When we left we had to go out the exit door and walk to the train station on the way to the train station we had to wait for 2 minutes.
